What is Mold?

Molds are types of fungi. They grow naturally in the environment.

Mold’s job in nature is to eat and break down carbon based materials. Mold needs moisture to grow. Indoors mold growth can be found in areas where humidity levels are high, like basements or bathrooms, essentially anywhere inside your home that is exposed to moisture. Molds produce microscopic cells called “spores”, these spores become airborne and spread. 90% of mold spores are so microscopic that they are not visible to the human eye.
